Model Watch: new AI models and what they cost

New models now arrive almost every week. Here is each new chat and coding model since September 2026, newest first, with the date its maker released it and its price per million tokens. Our Model Watch posts look closer at the biggest launches: what they cost in practice, how to get them and how developers reacted.

Checked October 18, 2026 against each maker’s release notes

How we pick and check

A model goes on this list when its maker releases it on its API, and gets a post when it changes what you would choose or pay: a new top model, a big price cut or a cheaper model that catches up. Every price comes from the maker’s own pricing page, and every release date from its release notes, listed below. When we quote what people say, we link the discussion and summarize it in our own words.
