Nano Banana pricing

What Google charges per generated image for its Nano Banana models on the Gemini API, and what a month of images would cost. The newest, Nano Banana 2.1, costs half as much per 1K image as Nano Banana 2.

Checked October 13, 2026 against Google’s Gemini API pricing page

Prices cover the generated image only. Your text prompt and any images you send in are billed as input tokens, which is usually a small part of the cost.

A dash means Google lists no price for that size. Nano Banana Pro charges the same for 1K and 2K images.

How Google prices images

Google charges for images as output tokens and publishes what that comes to per image. For example, a 1K image from Nano Banana 2 uses 1,120 tokens, priced at $60 per million image tokens, which is about $0.067. Nano Banana 2.1 charges $30 per million image tokens, so the same size costs about $0.034.

None of these image models has a free tier on the Gemini API. With grounding on Google Search, Gemini 3 and newer models share 5,000 free search requests a month, then $14 per 1,000.

The first Nano Banana is gone

Google set 2 October 2026 as the shutdown date for Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, the original Nano Banana, and points users to Nano Banana 2 or Nano Banana 2 Lite.

Other image APIs

xAI lists Grok Imagine Image at $0.02 per image, Grok Imagine Image 2.0 at $0.04 and its quality mode at $0.05 (Grok API pricing). OpenAI prices its GPT Image models per token and points to a calculator in its image guide, so a per-image figure depends on size and quality.
